Horizons at Warner

On Tuesday morning, the summer quiet was pleasantly interrupted by 135 students singing the following verses:

At Horizons we have people big and small.
Horizons doesn’t care what color we are.
Horizons shows us what life is all about.
At Horizons we are all brothers and sisters.

We’ve got swimming.
We’ve got drawing.
We’ve got playing in the park.
Stay at Horizons and you’ll be so smart!

At Horizons we change over time!
At Horizons we change over time!
At Horizons we change over time!
At Horizons we change over time!

We are Horizons; it is fun!
This is Horizons everyone!

Horizons is a national summer enrichment program designed to close the opportunity gap for lower income kindergartners through eighth graders by preventing summer learning loss.

Here at Warner, the program is directed by Lynn Gatto, with a team of certified teachers and student teachers that focus on teaching and improving literacy, STEM skills, and art to children from the Rochester City School District.

Like the East High partnership, Horizons at Warner is another good example of how Warner integrates itself into the local community and a great opportunity for current Warner students to get teaching experience.
